First asparagus box auctioned

The 2025 asparagus season has officially started. We had to wait longer for their harvest this year because of the low night temperatures. Later than usual, the soil temperature achieved the required level and therefore the first asparagus stalks became available later. Now, the first asparagus stalks have been cut in the cold greenhouse (double tunnels) of grower Robert den Brok from Schaik (the Netherlands) and have been offered for sale through the auction clock via our online platform.

Last week, on Wednesday, the first box was auctioned as per tradition. The revenue will go to a charity as it does every year. This year, the Toon Hermans Huis Noord-Limburg has been chosen, an organization that offers professional support to people with cancer, their immediate families and their survivors.

Impex Heemskerk thought this was a noble goal and he had the clock stop at 100 euros per kilo. ZON doubles the revenue and therefore ultimately a total amount of 1000 euros was donated to the Toon Hermans Huis.

Online auction farm-to-buyer clock locations are now more visible

More and more products are being auctioned using the online auction farm-to-buyer clock method.

We were regularly getting questions from auction clock customers about the location of the bought online auction farm-to-buyer clock products and therefore the locations are being specified as from now on several documents so that this is clear to auction clock customers.

Allow us to inform you about a few changes that have currently been implemented:

  • All online auction clock farm-to-buyer locations that are being scheduled on that same day are specified on the daily Global Supply Information at the bottom of the document.
  • As from now, the abbreviations of the online auction farm-to-buyer clock locations are printed in bold so that they stand out more regarding your clock purchases. For example: KKO.
  • The online auction farm-to-buyer clock location is specified at “What have I bought as a bidder” after the relevant purchase in Z-online.

We are currently investigating the possibility to also specify the online auction farm-to-buyer clock locations on the transport document so that it is also clear to the carrier/driver where bought products must be transhipped.

Speed in auction process

During the coming months, again more and more Dutch products will be supplied for the auction clock and we therefore wish to again ask for your attention for the following to make sure the auctioning process speed is maintained:

  • If you buy products from the Presale during the auctioning process, always specify the required packaging type number linked to the auctioneer instead of the packaging type description.
  • It is often the case that it takes a while before auction clock customers indicate the related subnumber or subnumbers to the auctioneer after a successful bid. Kindly indicate this information to the auctioneer when your bid is successful. The Auction Clock Team will soon contact relevant auction clock customers personally to make sure that improvements can be made.

If you have questions about the online auction farm-to-buyer clock locations or if you have ideas to further improve the speed of the auction process, contact the Auction Clock Team on telephone number +31 (0) 77 323 9759 or by email: klokteam@royalzon.com.

Transshipment of cucumbers at Kompany

Request to load cucumbers that are bought using the online auction farm-to-buyer clock at the Kompany (KKO) location on the same day. As from next Monday, storage fees will be calculated at Kompany for pallets that are not transhipped on the same day as the purchase. These fees are the same as at ZON: €2.90 per pallet per night
